Singer-Songwriter Concert of the “Bildes” Festival to Take Place at VEF Culture Palace
The traditional singer-songwriter concert of the “Bildes” music and art festival will be held at the VEF Culture Palace in Riga on 5 November. Arnis Miltiņš will host the evening, and both veteran and newer performers will appear.

This Thursday, 5 November, the VEF Culture Palace will host the traditional singer-songwriter concert of the “Bildes” music and art festival. Seasoned Latvian authors of songs will share one stage with performers the organisers describe as relative newcomers to the scene. The concert will be hosted by Arnis Miltiņš, who will also perform himself.
Line-up
The audience will hear Valdis Atāls, Gatis Zotovs, Jānis Jansons, Uldis Kākulis, Agita Kaužēna, Silvija Silava, Laine Ligere Stengrevica, Matīss and Uldis Ozols, Sandra Bula and Āris Ziemelis, Inta Pauļuka, Felikss Staņevičs, Ilona Papečkytė, Gundars Rullis, Kristaps Grasis, Ēriks Loks and others.
What the organisers say
According to the organisers, these artists have for years performed just as sincerely and freely in their own kitchens, among friends and like-minded people, as on large public stages. Listeners change and stages grow bigger, but the most important thing stays the same: a song and a story that come from the person themselves. The organisers describe singer-songwriters as people who walk their own path, self-sufficient, independent and faithful to their own sense of music. This may be why many of them have not felt the need to fit into a large band format.
A first at the songwriters’ evening
Among the relative newcomers is Gundars Rullis, leader of the band “Alis P”. He has taken part in the festival many times, but will perform at the singer-songwriter concert for the first time. Rullis says he is very glad of this opportunity. He adds that what appeals to him most about the evening is the chance to meet people for whom the song comes first.
