Drunk BMW Driver Causes Fatal Crash in Vilnius, Two Teenagers Dead
Early Saturday morning in Vilnius, a drunk 17-year-old driver crashed a BMW into a lamppost, killing two passengers and starting a fire.

A tragic road accident occurred in Vilnius, Lithuania, on Saturday, July 4, around 4:20 AM local time. A BMW 530e driven by a 17-year-old female driver (born in 2007) crashed into a lamppost on Žirmūnai Street. The vehicle caught fire after the impact. Two passengers—a girl born in 2007 and a boy born in 2005—died at the scene.
Police found that the driver had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.58 promille. Since she had held her driver's license for less than two years, Lithuanian law imposes a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol among novice drivers. The driver sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital.
Investigators suspect that illegal drag racing may have been involved. City surveillance cameras captured another car driving nearby at the time of the crash, but it remains unclear whether it was connected to the accident.
The driver faces criminal charges for causing a fatal accident while under the influence of alcohol, which carries a prison sentence of three to ten years.
