Zelenskyy calls for 'strong decisions' at NATO summit after Russia kills 11 in overnight strikes on Kyiv
Russia's overnight attack on Kyiv with 68 missiles and over 350 drones killed 11 people and injured 60. President Zelenskyy urges NATO leaders at the Ankara summit to take firm decisions on air defence.

Russia's overnight attack on Kyiv using 68 missiles and over 350 drones killed 11 people and injured approximately 60. The assault came just days after a similar deadly strike on the Ukrainian capital, as leaders prepared for the NATO summit starting Tuesday in Ankara.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in a social media post, urged NATO member states to make "strong decisions" and highlighted the insufficient supply of interceptor missiles. He stressed that partners could help supply air defence systems and protect civilians, adding that as long as Patriot missiles remain in allied stockpiles, Russia is encouraged to continue targeting residential buildings.
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called on NATO leaders to "protect Ukrainian children from Russian ballistic terror," stating that all decisions on air defence are needed now, not later. He warned that weak steps would only encourage Moscow to continue terror.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen backed Zelenskyy's call and pledged that air defence strengthening would be discussed at the NATO summit in Ankara. She noted the recent €4 billion disbursed under the €90 billion loan for Ukraine's defence and announced work on the 21st sanctions package.
Russia claimed its "massive attack" targeted military and energy facilities, despite evidence showing damaged apartment blocks.
