Zelensky and German foreign minister discuss support for Ukraine ahead of winter

President Volodymyr Zelensky met with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul in Kyiv to discuss preparations for the approaching winter, the Ukrainian leader said on social media platform X, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.
The two officials focused on strengthening air defense and providing support to Ukrainians during the winter months, which Zelensky described as the top priority. He thanked Germany for its leadership on the issue and its efforts to deliver as much assistance as possible to Ukraine.
Drone Deal talks continue
Zelensky added that the teams from both countries also discussed progress on the so-called Drone Deal agreement, which they intend to sign in the near future.
The Ukrainian president thanked Wadephul for his visit, which included participation in the 9th International Veterans Forum, and mentioned the minister's upcoming trip to Ukrainian regions facing a difficult situation due to Russian shelling.
Wadephul arrived in Kyiv on Saturday, August 22, on a solidarity visit ahead of the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's independence. He also held talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha on the security situation, peace efforts, and increasing pressure on Russia. Wadephul additionally announced an extra 3 million euros in support for Ukrainian veterans.
