Northern Ireland's (Team NI) team is preparing for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer, featuring a diverse group of athletes in athletics, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, netball, swimming, and weightlifting.

In athletics, heptathlete Kate O'Connor is the standout name. She won silver at the World Championships in Tokyo in 2025, setting an Irish record of 6714 points and five personal bests. She will be joined by Anna McCauley in the heptathlon. Nick Griggs (5000m or mile) and Callum Morgan (5000m) make their debuts; Morgan broke the Northern Irish 10k record earlier this year. James Gormley (mile) and para-athlete Eva Walsh Dann (100m and long jump) also feature.

The boxing squad includes 12 athletes. Michaela Walsh returns for her fourth Games, defending her featherweight gold from 2022. Jude Gallagher steps up to lightweight after winning featherweight gold in 2022. Debutants include Caitlin Fryers, Louis Rooney, Kaci Rock, Janssen Hill, Jon McConnell, Eoghan Quinn, Garyn McAllister, and Willie John McCartan.

Five cyclists make their Commonwealth Games debuts: Erin Creighton (scratch, points, elimination races), Emma Jeffers, Esther Wong, Matthew Dobbins, and para-cyclist Chris Burns.

Gymnastics is headlined by Olympic pommel horse champion Rhys McClenaghan, the only gymnast to win Olympic, World, European, and Commonwealth titles on one apparatus. He is joined by Eamon Montgomery, Ewan McAteer (third Games), and debutant Chester Enriquez.

The netball squad, aiming for a fourth consecutive Games, is captained by Michelle Magee and includes veterans Caroline O'Hanlon and Fionnula Toner.

Swimming has 15 athletes. Olympic 800m freestyle champion Daniel Wiffen competes in the 400m, 800m, and 1500m. Jack McMillan, Olympic relay gold medalist, races in the 100m, 200m, and 400m freestyle. Danielle Hill attends her fourth Games. Para-swimmer Bethany Firth defends her S14 200m freestyle title, and Barry McClements returns in the S9 100m backstroke.

Four weightlifters represent Team NI: Harrison McGrogan (71kg), Omar Keshta (110kg+), Hannah Crymble (63kg, second Games), and debutant Kaitlin Saunders (77kg).
