CSDD launches campaign urging drivers and passengers to buckle up
Latvia's Road Traffic Safety Directorate has launched a campaign urging both drivers and passengers to always wear seat belts, citing statistics on deaths linked to not buckling up.

The Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) has launched a new awareness campaign encouraging both drivers and passengers to always fasten their seat belts. The initiative aims to remind the public how important it is to wear a seat belt on every trip, regardless of its length or circumstances.
CSDD notes that many people still do not use seat belts consistently, whether they are driving a car or riding as passengers. As part of the campaign, statistics on road deaths linked to not wearing a seat belt are being highlighted.
What happens to the body in a crash
The campaign materials also explain what physically happens to a person's body at the moment of a collision if they are not restrained by a seat belt. This information is used to underline how crucial the belt can be in a crash situation, where it can be the deciding factor between survival and death.
Through this campaign, CSDD aims to encourage all road users — both drivers and passengers — to make sure their seat belt is fastened before every trip, in order to reduce the number of serious injuries and fatalities in road traffic accidents.
