Dobele municipality marks International Day of Older Persons

On October 1, Dobele municipality held events for the International Day of Older Persons at the "Stariņš" day center and the "Tērvete" social care center. All 215 residents of the care center were greeted, with a musical performance from the "KPTT" boys' ensemble.

Residents of Dobele municipality celebrated the International Day of Older Persons on October 1 with events organized at two local facilities, the municipal government reported.

At the "Stariņš" day center for people of retirement age, run by the Dobele municipality's Social Service, seniors gathered for a joint celebration featuring conversation, songs, life reflections and anecdotes. Attendees received greeting cards with warm wishes along with small treats, and a festive table was set up for the occasion.

All 215 residents of "Tērvete" honored

Celebrations also took place at the "Tērvete" social care center, where all 215 residents were greeted on their day. The festive atmosphere was enhanced by a musical greeting from the "KPTT" boys' ensemble of Dobele State Gymnasium, led by teacher Raimonds Bulmers.

The International Day of Older Persons is observed annually on October 1, drawing attention to the role of older generations in society.
