Content creator Elīza Kupča on losing 20 kilograms: it started with a question about lifestyle, not weight

Latvian content creator and host of the "Sexy Style" podcast, Elīza Kupča, known online as @squadperson, has undergone a visible physical transformation over the past year, with her weight dropping from around 80 kilograms to just over 64 kilograms.

In an interview, she explains that the process didn't begin as a weight-loss goal at all. Instead, it started with a deeper question about whether she actually wanted to keep living the way she had been. Her routine had largely consisted of frequent partying, alcohol, and using food as a way to cope with emotions.

A difficult relationship with food

Kupča says she has never had a healthy relationship with food since her teenage years. She describes always having been somewhat larger than the people around her, and notes that the more emotional stress she experienced, the more comfort she sought in eating.

The turning point wasn't a specific number on the scale, but the realization that her whole week revolved around waiting for the moment she could go out and drink again. She also became uncomfortable with how she behaved during those nights out.

From a bottle to running

As her mindset shifted, so did her habits — where alcohol once had a place in her routine, running has now taken over. Kupča stresses, however, that physical change hasn't automatically brought inner peace with herself; she admits she still sees flaws in herself regardless of how she looks.

She now speaks openly about her experience, much as she does about other topics society tends to find uncomfortable, hoping it might resonate with others facing similar struggles with body image and emotional eating.
