Musician and retro tech enthusiast Chris Graue has published the schematics for a 3D-printed adapter that allows a Game Boy Camera to be connected to a telescope eyepiece—the same approach he used to photograph Jupiter.

A musician and retro tech enthusiast who last month used a Game Boy Camera to take a photo of Jupiter has now made his 3D-printed adapter available to everyone.

Chris Graue, together with colleagues, created a custom adapter that connected the Game Boy Camera to the eyepiece of the Hooker Telescope at the Mount Wilson Observatory. He has now released the 3D printing schematics for the adapter and a short tutorial video.

In his own words, the adapter is "a tube that pressure fits inside of a standard 1.25 inch eyepiece for telescopes." While not everyone has access to a telescope powerful enough to see Jupiter, the adapter can be used for other creative shots with the Game Boy Camera.

The Game Boy Camera has long been a popular subject for modification—it has been turned into a mirrorless camera, a webcam, and a telephoto lens. Graue's work adds to this list of innovative projects.
