Estonia, a Baltic country and a member of the European Union, will switch to winter time in the night to Sunday, 25 October. Residents will need to turn their clocks back by one hour. Like Estonia, all European Union countries move to winter time, so the change applies across the whole bloc.

When exactly the time changes

The switch to winter time follows Greenwich Mean Time rather than local time. For that reason, Estonia will not turn its clocks back at midnight but at 04:00 local time. In practice, in the early hours of Sunday, when the clock reaches four, it will be set back by one hour.

How long winter time lasts

Estonia will stay on winter time until the last Sunday of March. Until then, clock settings will remain unchanged.

The information about the time change was published by the Russian-language portal of ERR, Estonia's public broadcaster. Because the change affects every European Union country and follows a common principle, the start of winter time concerns not only Estonia but the entire union. Anyone planning their Sunday morning should keep in mind that the clock will show a time one hour earlier than it would have the previous day.
