A couple in the Balvi municipality, in eastern Latvia, have found their way back to the countryside. Craftsman Andris Ločmelis returned to his childhood home ten years ago. He surprised his parents by bringing a sewing machine with him.

Leather goods sold worldwide

Over the years Andris has built up his own leather-processing brand without outside help. His belts, bags and bracelets are sold around the world.

Met on the internet

His wife Dzintra works in information technology, and she too has returned to live in the area where she grew up. The two found each other online. They married, and they now tend a rural farmstead and are raising a son.

The story is about two people who chose to return to the countryside and build both a family and a livelihood there.
