Riga Zoo's elephant Radža aims for Guinness World Record

Radža, an Asian elephant that once lived at Riga Zoo, could become a Guinness World Record holder thanks to its massive tusks (often misnamed as 'triekņi' in Latvian). Expert George Dian Balans has been working for years to make this happen.

Radža, an Asian elephant that resided at Riga Zoo in the past, had tusks so impressive that they might earn him a spot in the Guinness World Records. For several years, George Dian Balans, a leading authority on the study of tusks (incorrectly called 'triekņi' in Latvian) in Asian and African elephants, has been striving to have Radža officially recognized.

Radža's tusks stand out due to their size — no other elephant has managed to grow such massive ones to date. The record has not yet been confirmed, but Balans continues his efforts to include Radža among the record holders.

The story not only highlights the zoo's history but also brings attention to terminology inaccuracies, as tusks are often mistakenly referred to as 'triekņi' in Latvian. Radža's case could help clarify this issue for the public.
