Six Latvian Hockey Players to Attend NHL Development Camps
At least six Latvian hockey players will take part in summer development camps organized by NHL teams, including defenseman Alberts Šmits, the highest-drafted Latvian in history.

According to published rosters, at least six Latvian hockey players are set to attend summer development camps of National Hockey League (NHL) clubs.
Defenseman Alberts Šmits, selected fifth overall in this year’s draft by the New York Rangers, will be among the participants. His selection marks the highest draft position ever achieved by a Latvian player.
Anaheim Ducks invited defenseman Darels Uļjanskis, while Tampa Bay Lightning included forward Klāvs Veinbergs in their camp. Edmonton Oilers will host Rūdolfs Bērzkalns, who was drafted in the second round (58th overall).
Buffalo Sabres added forward Olivers Mūrnieks (drafted in the fourth round, 124th overall), and undrafted goaltender Nils Roberts Mauriņš will attend the Vancouver Canucks camp.
As not all NHL teams have released their development camp rosters, the number of Latvian participants may increase.
