A data breach at the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has compromised over 3 million driver's licenses and passport numbers, the state's attorney general announced. The incident is among the largest data breaches in Texas this year.

Department Confirms Major Data Incident
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has disclosed a security incident in which hackers gained access to more than 3 million individuals' driver's license information and passport numbers, according to the state attorney general. The breach was revealed in a notice on the department's website.
The department stated that the state's cybersecurity unit recently detected a security incident, though the nature and timing of the event were not specified. The breach allowed hackers to infiltrate the department's license system vendor, which manages the sale of hunting and fishing licenses. The vendor's identity was not disclosed, and the department did not respond to TechCrunch's request for comment, including whether hackers had made any contact.
The exposed data also included email addresses, phone numbers, and residential addresses of affected license holders. This incident ranks among the largest data breaches to hit Texas this year.
