Bible Now Fully Available in 800 Languages
A milestone in Bible translation has been reached, with the full text now available in 800 languages. However, 1.5 billion people still lack access to a complete translation.

An international organization named after 14th-century theologian John Wycliffe has announced that the Bible is now fully translated into 800 languages. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the long-standing translation effort.
Historically, Bible translation progressed slowly. By the early 19th century, it was available in only about 50 languages. That number grew to 200 by the mid-20th century and 400 in 1998. The pace has accelerated in recent decades, reaching 800 today.
According to the organization, roughly half a billion people have gained access to the Bible in their native language in the last five years. Yet challenges remain. There are still 6,600 languages without a complete Bible translation, affecting around 1.5 billion people.
If the current rate continues—400 languages every 28 years—it would take nearly five centuries to complete the task. However, if the exponential growth persists, the timeline could be shortened considerably.
