Cream Cheese Cake With Pears and Cocoa: A Home Baking Recipe
Latvijas Avīze has published a simple cake recipe combining pears, cream cheese and cocoa. It bakes in the oven for 40–45 minutes.

The Latvian newspaper Latvijas Avīze published a dessert recipe on 3 November for a cake made with cream cheese, pears and cocoa powder. The recipe is credited to Inga Patmalniece of the magazine Praktiskais Latvietis. The text describes the preparation as simple and says the result should please even demanding dessert lovers.
Ingredients
The cake is baked in a pan 20–22 cm in diameter. It calls for:
- 200 g wheat flour;
- 150 g sugar;
- 150 g cream cheese;
- 2 eggs;
- 50 ml milk;
- 1 teaspoon baking powder;
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder;
- 2 firm pears, or more if needed.
Method
First, peel the pears and remove the cores. Dice one pear and cut the other into slices. Next, whisk the eggs with the sugar in a bowl, add the cream cheese and milk, and stir until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cocoa and baking powder. Sift this mixture into the egg and cheese mixture and stir everything together. Then fold the diced pear into the batter.
Pour the batter into the pan and arrange the pear slices on top. Bake in the oven at 180 degrees for 40–45 minutes. Before serving, lightly dust the cake with icing sugar.
